Do you use remotely hosted services, how often and which providers do you prefer?

I do, both for personal and work.

hostingUK are excellent and good value- they now do VPS, which i'm close to signing up for!

VPS = virtual private server btw, which is practically your own server- you can install apps and remote desktop it.

My company, ZeroWeb, http://www.ZeroWeb.biz, uses colo servers with The Planet, http://www.ThePlanet.com.

They are pretty good, and pretty cheap compared to other places. I would highly recommend them.

Actually I was talking about remotely hosted services which is the category of widgets, also called interactive features, which you can add to your site by cut-and-paste operation, the process takes few minutes. The major advantage of such services is that they don’t require server-side installation and can be used by any webmaster.

In that case then no. Make your own- well-writte SERVER-SIDE code is 100% safe and reliable so unless it's out of my league I write my own. The only remotely hosted service of any use, if this is what you call it, would be Google Analytics.
