it really takes a lot of months for your site to be listed in Dmoz. there are over a hundred thousands submission in Dmoz every day and thats why they are number one.

After you have submitted ONCE to the ONE best category, you have done all you can do. Anything else (eg re-submitting) is counterproductive. A volunteer editor will eventually review it, if the editor chooses to use suggested sites when looking for sites to build a category.
What is the URL?

naah, don't think about it too much though, just submit and forget... a lot of people has been saying that Dmoz is not that effective as it was before anyways.

well you have to wait till they approved it. it just takes time.
Seems Dmoz is reducing their size as they are deleting the dead links ..You will just have to keep trying.. you'll manage to get to be one, one of these days.

Then it is highly likely that you are the reason that you are not listed.....every time you resubmited, you just overwrite your previous submission with the new date and keep moving your site to the bottom of the list if an editor sorts the pool by date (most do). There is NEVER a need to resubmit.

Birdie: please read my post before commenting.
The site is an authority, i dont list sites over and over again - The site was resubmitted once a year for the past 4 years and nothing. I have submitted "crud" sites and they have been up in under 3 months usually.
When you say there is NEVER a need to resubmit - well there is if its been listed in 4 years of trying

Everytime I read someone asking why DMOZ is taking so long, I can not help but laugh. Don't take this the wrong way, I am not trying to be mean or judgemental but DMOZ listings seem to disctract all new comers and not enough messages can be posted to dissuade them. It takes almost 2 years for some to understand that it ain't gonna happen and it is not worth their time anyway.

Where are you getting your information from? DMOZ lists >2000 new sites a month, making it the fastest growing directory on the www. More than half those site were never even submitted in the first place

Well, you said it! They list only > 2K a month and more than half are not even submitted. Guess what the chances are for someone who " personally" thinks his site is worthy enough for DMOZ to get listed. That answer your question?
I recommend anyone who is starting up to worry about content quality, uniqueness, functionality, design , generating interest and traffic, and then worry about DMOZ.

Patience is virtue. It could take up to 9 months before you get approved.

It can actually take up to >2 yrs or never. An editor is under no obligation to use the suggested sites when looking for sites to build a category. The suggested sites are just one source that they may use (its just the worse source and wading through them is an less productive use of an editors time compared to other soruces to find sites to add).

3 months is not enough. Just wait for 1 year.

your lucky if get added from DMOZ but nextt why you should wait? why you should not go on other link building strategies instead of waiting your approval at DMOZ, and it's true, submitting directories is just "Submit and Forget" not only from DMOZ but also to other directories.
