It won't be listed and you can check the guidelines to see if meets the listing criteria.

Death of DMOZ
Recent news new from the Google machine indicates they will no longer give much credence to this directory. Nor will they with Yahoo's directory. So, I would not sweat this. I will mean very little in the near future. It may however reduce allot of PRs on the net.:roll

That is absolute rubbish. What news are you talking about or did you just make this up?
Google have removed recommending submitting to DMOZ and Yahoo from their guidelines; BUT a Google staffer (John Mu) specifically said do not read into this anything more than they just removed it from recommending it. ... nothing about devaluing it.
Do you always post before getting your facts right?

Please DO NOT follow this really bad advice. Do you ever attempt to get your facts right before posting?
Resubmitting will only put your site at a disadvantage, by overwriting the previous submission with the new date! If the site has been rejected, resubmitting will only get you labelled as a spammer.

Why can't you people just forget DMOZ and do something better with your life?
Stop wasting your time and make that directory bigger than it deserves.
It doesn't matter if you in or not... trust me you'll survive either way

You see, I would advise him to act in such a way for the reason I resubmitted one my online shopping website to DMOZ several times one year ago and it was accepted as a result! Also I would like to say it is expedient to resubmit a website to several DMOZ categories!

Dmoz is the largest human edited directory in the internet, even though they have a lot of members that are editors, but it still takes months and even Years for websites to get Listed in Dmoz.

1. Every time you resubmit, you just overwrite the previous submission with the new date - you just move your site down the list, if the editor chooses to use the pool of sites and organises them by date of submission - there is NEVER a need to resubmit. If you got listed after resubmitting, then its just a coincidence.
2. Submitting to more than one category is against the guidelines that you agree to when you submit (unless its one topical and one regional). How do you think any directory should treat those who can not follow the guidelines - they also create a lot of extra work for editors to go and delete the additional submissions in the additional categories --- by doing this you have become part of the problem.

Send it and forget it. Check from 6 to 6 months. If not approved, send it and forget it again. Check after another 6 month, ....

PLEASE do not follow this really bad advice. There is NEVER a need to resubmit. Doing so will put your site at a further disadvantage. Did you nt read what I just wrote in the message above:

From my experience with dmoz if there is allready sites in the category your looking for it will be slim to none for approval, however if your site has a good niche I have found it easy to get listed in dmoz.

Thats sort of correct. DMOZ wants to list sites with unique content ...is content that is not available on sites already listed in the category. What is the point of listing 10 sites all offering the same? How is the web surfer served by that? It not a matter of " my competitors are listed" - you have to have content that your competitors do not. If a category already has a lot of sites listed, then its going to be harder to have a site with unique content.

Birdie,
Let say I submit my site today to the lowest level. After 6 months nothing. But in a meantime I improved it, I added new and valuable content, so on.
Why not resubmit?
Is there a person that counts how many time a site is submitted?
Does not s/he have nothing else to do?
From my point of view, any unapproved subbmission must be deleted and a message must be sent to submitter. The rest is statistics, not editing.

If your site has been rejected and you resubmit, then you just get labeled as a spammer and create more work for editors to delete again. A rejected site is rarely redeemable, so please don't waste your and an editors time by resubmitting.
If you want to resubmit, then you are just wasting your time and putting your site at a disadvantage.

what do you think if a website can be accepted by DMOZ if it hasn't been submitted to this directory!

More than half the new sites that get added to DMOZ were never submitted in the first place.

But I think these sites are not new ones! DMOZ usually accept popular and well-promoted websites only!
