I paid for a few times on directory submission guys. They said they 'd use manual submission method but I think they used automatic software to submit to about 500 directories. Their work was done fast.

After about 3 weeks of submission, my site got indexed on google for some keywords. However, these keywords were not indexed after few weeks later and even got worse than before submission.

My question is "does it hurt my site ranking if we submitted too many directories in a short time?"

Is automatic directory submission waste of time?

Thanks very much for reading.
Here it is my opinion about it.

Last week, in a discussion with a friend about hiring a "link building company" .. my friend told me that he preffer to pay a company several bucks to submit his link, and not loose his time doing that. He done that. He paid about 30 dollars or so to a company who told him they will submit his link to 1.000 directories.

The result ?
1) The company used a Automated or Semi automated software, like most of them use. There is no manual submission, ONLY if YOU do it, for yourself !
2) My friend verified the submissions that company did. He found his site refused in enaugh directories with the reason "wrong category".
3) My friend found his website listed with the wrong anchor text or wrong description listed in some directories, or even worst.. he find his site listed in un-related category, which tell me that that directory owner didn't even check that submission.

Now, as I am myself a directory owner, I can tell you almost all of the time when the links are submitted by website owners or "submission services" companies . The links submitted by the last ones are in the wrong categories, or with site descriptions like "We make mainboards, mainboards for anyone, mainboards for sale, mainboards" .

My advice is to make the directory submission yourself, and pay attention at the rules in each directory. You can also use an semi-automatted submission software.. that basically just complete the fields for you.

Have a good day !

Forbid automated submission

Hi,

I hate automated directory submission & been banning all submitters who is using automated methods as it always post in the wrong category and waste our editors time. If you want to get listed fast at electrons online web directory then use manual submission

I really wish I would have read about auto submit. I have been doing it and now begining to question if it was a good choice. I guess from now on only manuel submission for me. Thanks for explaining why not to auto submit.

I prefer the manually sub. Human edited directories always forbids auto submission.
