SevenSeek
John-
It looks like you are going forward with this new directory (sevenseek).
Will this directory allow keyword anchor text? I'm sure this will be a deciding factor for some web sites.

I doubt it will. that really decreases the usability and quality of a directory if all the insurance listings say
"insurance quotes"
"insurance quotes"
"cheap insurance quotes"
...

...well actually awall19 Microsoft small business directory does it very well. Ok having to pay every year may not give you a ROI but its a much better idea for larger websites and Bluefind is better for single keyword small site.

MSNs directory is a bit shady. like sometimes they let you stuff the crap out of your stuff and then other times they want the exact name

The only listings that can have keyword titles are the Sponsored listings, and you can have whatever title you want on those.

LOL. I should put a really hot chic on there, considering that the vast majority of Internet users are male.

Is sevenseek on another IP block to Bluefind?
Btw don’t put a really slutty girl on there cos that just oozes sexist unprofessional website. The models used on Microsoft look cute and intelligent and intergrated well into the sites.

Couldn't agree more. The images you use on your web site should reflect the brand you are trying to promote and be appealing to your taget audience.
Microsoft would never use anything other than professional looking people as they are a family & business orienated company.

I'm not saying this will happen - but it does lead to a logical question -
Why sell one directory just to do it all over again in exactly the same way..... kinda milking the cash cow a bit?

even if you do deep research there is know way to know for sure exactly what it will be like to run a directory until you are.
perhaps BlueFind helped John learn a decent amount about directories. also SevenSeek (from what I know) is intended to be more of a portal and less of a directory.
everything starts from somewhere though, & if the directory script is already together there is no reason to not use it.

No reason not to use it. But it's worth finishing it. But I agree you're better off putting something out there and getting feedback.

I have heard John say sevenseek is to be more of a portal. But from what it looks like at the moment i'd bet my last dollar that these are the concerns that will be spreading around forums like the plague.
I have no doubt that sevenseek will be a resounding success - better to address these issues right from the start though
