Amazon - A9

I see that Amazon are going to re-vamp their A9 search. I must admit that I haven't paid this search much attention, but I have just been trying it out again and I rembered that I quite like it. Okay it looks a bit odd, and it is Google results based. But, how do I put this? It seems to me almost like Google without all the trauma/ inconsistencies, Google Lite perhaps...

What does everyone else think?

I'm starting to use it more and more-I like it's features and ease of use-the site and image search side by side is great!

Yeah I think thats a good feature also, just a bit worried about the Alexa connection though, god knows how they will try to use the data they collect from using the site. Don't think that I'll be using it while signed into my Amazon account...

Amazon offers discount to A9 users

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Online retailer Amazon.com is offering a 1.57 percent shopping discount to registered users of its new A9 web search service as a way to increase A9 use and promote buying on Amazon, the company's website shows.

In a note on its website on Friday, Amazon said that revenue from web search advertising on A9 will help offset the cost of the discount, which equates to pi divided by two -- Amazon's way of "sharing the pi".

A9 debuted earlier this week and is the project of Amazon's Palo Alto, California-based Internet search unit of the same name. After the roll-out of A9, many analysts and industry watchers had wondered how Amazon would use the service to spur sales on its site.

The discount program began Thursday afternoon.
