New Directory (PR8 Soon)
This is our new directory which will have PR8 within 3-6 months as we are adding some 20,000 backlinks.
Please add your links.

Is there a benefit to adding a link first, or will it slowly get pushed to the bottom when it's added?
Can I link to the Photography section of the site and change the text of the link to reflect that change instead of linking to the homepage?

Not for nothing, but you have 2 backlinks: http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=lin...b-t&fl=0&x=wrt
My low man on the pole advice (I'm no expert) would be to add your site to other directories..eg ones that list directories. Or do some advertising, etc. As of now, all you have is a link farm...and you even state it with "soon to be pr8". Just being honest.

The olders links will always be displayed first in each category.
You will have to link to the homepage.

20,000 links in itself doesn't equal PR8. The source of the links (think: IP range) plus the PR of the pages being linked from, all have some bearing on your eventually PageRank.

Yeah, well, that is true to a LIMITED extent. I know not to take advice from people who are biased and have little interest in honesty.

That's not a nice thing to say; neither is it justified.
PR doesn't depend on links. Some pages on the Internet have 20,000 links and PR7. Others have PR8 with just a lot less links. Really depends on the linking pages.

Perhaps you are right John but I like to keep impartial.
Looking at his website and what he posted in his reply speaks volumes so I will say no more.
Yes, themed links from unique IP blocks does matter, but not that much.
I have a site with PR5 with only a handful of links back to it and I have another with some 3000 baclkinks only at PR2.
It just irritates me that people who are biased try/attempt to apear completely honest when they are not. That is all.

You're a little too quick to judge - I made a general comment that applies generally. Getting PR isn't simply about getting links by number - the system is more complicated than that.
Btw - I'm not actually trying to sell you anything either - I don't sell PageRank. You will need to buy that elsewhere.

You seem to have some odd coding on the page prbot
<table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" style="border-collapse: collapse" bordercolor="#111111" width="214%">
I think you meant to have that as 214px rather than % otherwise it'll be hard to fit it even on two screens!

also would you mind posting the url of the page with 3000 inbound links that has only pr2, as unless the links were added since the last pr update or all the inbound links pages are pr0 i don't see how thats possible.

I can't help but laugh everytime someone posts something like "but it'll be PRx in a few months!"

what are you talking about? you are trying to promote your stuff
the "I am the only honest one" line often leads well to "I have few friends" which does not work well on a social network...and that is what the web is.

I would sign up regardless of the "expected PR" coming, if I could like to a topical section and not the homepage - linking to your home page does neither me or my members/visitors any good whatsoever.

Google link: is not the authority when it comes to links. I have a site with no links from google link: but has a PR of 4. I do have 3 IBL with high PR that are cached by google, but link: does not show them. I've also seen a site with about 250 guestbook links, none of which showed up in link:, yet the site was on page 2 for a decently competitive keyword.

Agreed about Google's link command, but yahoo is generally pretty fast at finding backlinks..even on banned domains.

Who is we? I hope you have a lot of help 20,000 backlinks can take a lot longer than 3-6 months unless you have $$$$ to buy some advertising.
That's almost like me saying in 12-24 months my site will be a PR10.

PRBOT-
How can you predict your sites future PR when you have to ask about the value of PR9 links?
Do you have to sell something in every post you make here? This isn't even the "OFFER SERVICES" forum!
