Loading data (categories and links) to your directory

What method do you guys use to bulk load data into your directories?

I've created a 'export' tool that simply takes all my categories and outputs it to XML file format.


And the other end of things, I am going to create a import tool. Is there any 'industry' standard format people use? I'm guessing its probably custom work you get done via a freelancer?

I don't think there is an industry standard... most scripts simply don't offer an import feature and they vary so much in the use of database and file structure.
so go for it and create an industry standard

Is there a demand for a windows based directory script, it seems most of you guys are unix based. Or does the platform not really matter, its the feature set etc that makes the difference?
