You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

I wrote a long treatise on the topic at DP that I wont repeat (it's a sticky at the top of that forum)... but the bottom line is what Jim indicates is correct. Their model isnt set up in a service mode for webmasters and thus cant really deliver one even if that was their goal, which it isnt.

Best bet is simply to submit there and then go on with other methods of plugging the site. If they'd wanted to turn it into a service model they'd have done so by now, but it wasnt the intent when it started nor their current plan. We can kvetch about it all we want from the outside, but it's theirs do to with as they please and unless you're talking about a publicly owned utility... ownership implies control.

What anyone outside wants it to be doesnt change the fact that it isnt in the cards for it to become a different critter.

Trouble with offering money is that it gets the site banned for life and if an editor takes money they are booted for life. So if you don't want your site to be banned don't go near there, even in jest.

What's wrong with that?
With money in my packed I will ban myself and then LOL on my way to the Bank

BTW, are you saying that some editors took money?
How do you know that?
Did you took any money?
If yes, how much are you charging?
Would you like to start new business and need a partner?

Before this gets going... can I respectfully request that anyone who seriously wants to get deep into the traditional rabbit trails about editor corruption (damn that sounds sinister) do so at any one of the many available pro/anti dmoz flamefests hosted on numerous other webmaster forums? It's just a directory, and it's flat dead amazing it still fosters the sorta posts usually reserved for Israel v Palestine debates in P&R forums.

This is not only excellent advice, but following it is mandatory. (Should anyone decide to start a new thread since this one is now closed.)
