It’s my personal opinion that all the page rank junkies got exactly what they deserved when they were ripped off by take the money and run directory operators. It was amateur marketing at its finest with mass quantities unprofessional webmasters seeking an easy ride to the top. The most basic of marketing principals were ignored with page rank and back links glorified as the doorway to wealth and riches.
Long established directory operators were driven out of forums being called old fashioned and out of date because they had topics more than 3 levels deep and would not accept poor quality websites on the main topic pages. Now we hear the cries that directories are useless because they don’t pass page rank. It’s truly a tough time for all poor little link junkies having to learn how to market a website.
