200 or so free directories to list your site in

I have a .pdf file you can download from my site listing 200 or so directories you can list your site in.

Almost all of them offer free submission and do not require a link back.

I update the list every week or so as I find more on my searches, if any members have a directory that fits in with this theme that is not already listed then please let me know and I will add it next update.

I'm working my way down the list, and I've already found a number of sites that require recip links. These include:

URL.biz
Neorunner.com
LinkNow.co.nz

Also, Yahoo.com certainly isn't a free directory. :-)

Well for anything business or shopping related Yahoo! is a paid only directory http://add.yahoo.com/fast/add?8101

Should have worded that better, I know a few need payment and reciprocal link, I just hadn't recorded which - going to do this soon when I submit another site to them all.

True, but that leaves an awful lot of Webmasters who could still get a free link in the directory.

Thanks Padawan! Your list is very helpful and contains a lot of directories that can't be found anywhere else.

You should note that a lot of the links in your list aren't quite right - for instance dir.seo7.net links to dir.seo7.nrt, etc.

I once got a site in within a couple days but it has been removed... All the other sites I submit and nothing happens...

Is it a great idea or a waist of time? I would say a waist of time and a sign of unoriginality resulting in desperation. If you’re selling then investment is required. If you run a non-commercial site link exchange is the way to go as well as other creative ideas a forum like this mayl help you get.

one of my sites was listed free in a week. another took a month.

I still submit to a ton of directories. and find it an effective SEO technique. I also do lots of other link building techniques as well.
