DMOZ: says "No! No!"

Applied twice for completely different categories at DMOZ over this weekend. Both times were turned down flatly. Yes, I read the guidelines. Maybe my suggestions were not worded properly - but I keep having the nasty feeling that having a site on the same theme works against that - even though they are strictly non-commerical sites.

Do I even want to be a DMOZ editor anyway?

I was a DMOZ editor for a while for gaming stuff. The category I had was neglected for quite some time. It took me 6 months to get approved, and once I was I added a ton of links. The problem was another editor came behind me and deleted all of my work.

So, I just gracefully stopped going to DMOZ as it wasn't really worth my time to volunteer when the work wasn't appreciated

DMOZ editors aren't highly paid.

I did it for a while, and it was awfully time consuming.

I still do it and it can be annoying if some one high than you rearranges everything. I am also happy to list my competitors and it helps me keep an eye on them or find potential partnerships.

It does take time and you get little reward but I also do it to make the quality of the internet better . I dont see any PR boost greater than other websites.
