Is DMOZ corrupt?

It was a facetious comment re asking for a refund. It was to make the point that DMOZ does not have any contractual obligation to provide any sort of listing service for webmasters. USGreenLiving was complaining about not being provided with a service that they expected (ie a listing; an explanation; replies from editors; etc). If a fee was involved, then yes there is a contractual obligation exists to provide a service.

Are you saying that DMOZ started issuing refunds? It's about time

I have figured they own me about $500.00 but... I will take $100.00 in cash or 10 eBay Reputation points but only if DMOZ will promise me never to add any of my sites again so I can generate more cash and eBay points.

Where should I go to apply for refund?

I beleive there is corruption, from the following facts:

If you really have a quality web site and follow there rules and submit your website, well you all know, it takes ages and then it get rejected.

Also you can find that some links which are duplicated in the same category or in different categories.

If you are looking for direct evidence then I doubt anyone will be offering one simply because DMOZ as any corrupt entity is making sure that you cannot obtain evidence by using available sources. So, lets just forget about evidence beyond reasonable doubts mambo-jumbo and stick to what we know.

We know that directory is managed by so called “Editors” who will do anything to make sure none of competitors’ sites will be ever listed to compete in Category next to their own sites. To make sure they can kill some site and get away with murdering their competitors’ sites, they came up with “unique” content scam, which I must admit is ingenious invention.

The way this scam works is very simple. Editor sees relative to his own suggested site that much better than his own and immediately turn on “unique” content flag that sends competitor’s site into the land of oblivion thereafter conducting action which in my book is defined as corruption.

Now, I made my case your majesties members of this forum by using evidence presented to me by defendant DMOZ Directory and available for your scruples examination. You will find thousands of categories with only 5 or 10 sites listed in them among hundreds of better quality sites that were rejected by Editor(s) of that Categories using “unique” content scam.

Rubbish. You have made no case. How do you know the sites were rejected? How do you know that they are not just still waiting to be reviewed. Come up with the goods to back it up.

Thats a really flawed piece of logic. As I have repeatedly asked, come up with some evidence. If what you claim is true, then that editor will be removed.

About the spam that enters DMOZ, I don't think they cannot manage it - there is an legion of developers who are working on their web and still cannot find a solution...a simple crawler implemented in PHP can do the work, not talking about the supreme spam check crawler that can be written in Python...I don't believe they can do it.

I don't know how they record your ip, but I doubt its dumped only because you submite more than one site ... that must be a phenomenon which is result of the collective action of many smart people with high conceit who talk more at the bar and act less on their desk...

dmoz felt down the google ranking and was displaced from its pole position - I guess google bot is smarten than all those who are working on dmoz project.

if your tiny brain could conceive - its a small site in my signature which is developed by one person with limitted resources - and its been launched not long ago ... but it is already bringing something to promote it and make it better ...

now, I would recommend you to give up posting on this topic ... don't waste your bandwidth and the resources of this host ... it is for webmasters for people who learn and try to build something - there is no place here for people who try to deceive, destroy and etc. We don't need people like you ... better watch you for outbreaks of bird flu.
