Does Directory bring any traffic to you?

Does Directory bring any traffic to your website?
If so how many percent of your traffic is from Directory?

I have given my website to around 100 Directories and I have notice that i have never gotten any traffic from them. Do they even do anything?

Web directories send very little traffic to most websites, probably less than 1% of most sites traffic, even with many directory listings.

So if Directories don't do much , why are so many people adding their websites to so many dirctories? Do they do anything for your page ranking on search engines?

They can help a lot with rankings and probably PR too if it's a high PR directory. I get some traffic from DMOZ and other directories, but it is probably about 1% of the total.

Depends on the directory. Niche directories bring in more than general directories. They all help your link popularity and ranking in the search engines provided you get a true link and not a redirect.

Also how deeply buried you are in the structure and which page you appear on affect how many hits you will get.

The niche directories do. If you have a site about "web design", Google "web design directories" "web design add url" and such and maybe 1 out of 5 will send you maybe 30-40 hits/day (free ones).

Also, being listed in directories helps to get your new websites indexed quicker in the SEs since the engines crawl directories rather frequently - atleast mine.

I don't have any sites listed in Yahoo's Directory, but I have read that it brings in an average of 3 hits per day if you are listed there. Costs a lot of money though. That's not bad I suppose, it should be good traffic too.

You get either very less or no traffic from directories. The main advantage of getting your site listed in directories is it's one of the fastest ways to build your link popularity.

If that's true than I suppose it's worth it for people with fairly expensive keywords. 300.00 for 365 x 3 visitors is not so bad.

It doesn't do much for traffic for me but it is a big help in building links

Some directories can bring traffic but main thing is pagerank. If you have lots of inbound links that will increase your pagerank.

The thing about directory traffic is it is targeted, golden at that. From what I have seen directory traffic quality is top 3 with search second and blog first. Overall I would take one visitor from a directory over 500 bulk visitors, they'll be worth much more to your advertisers

That's true. One visitor looking for whatever you have is better than 1000 from one of those traffic buying schemes.
