Am I right in thinking PHPLD is no longer freeware? I just looked at the site and saw a price breakdown...

Version 3 is paid but version 2 is still free, you can download it from the main page. There is a link on the sidebar under "Latest Version"

Ive seen some decent examples of the sitesift script in use...Although $60 to remove the copyright is pretty steep.
I think PHPLD is now struggling with support. Its become a victim of its own success, and a good number of people arent too keen on the extra $10 charge for support forum access. I can see what there trying to do there though...by giving options.

so switched over to PHPLD and at this very moment, i am in the process of upgrading my Dir's to version 3.0.3
i am sure everyone would agree, its easy to mod, excellent support in the forums, great ppl behind the project and uncomplicated setup and usage

The only problem I have with PLD is the licensing. Does anyone know of a similar one that is GPL?

I like phpLD the most.
But sometimes when I am not so much lazy then I develop a custom one for myself.

Voted for PHPLD. All my directories are powered by PHPLD. Except the last one, which is powered by site-sift. site-sift is not bad, I have started liking it too.
