Can I submit my website in Dmoz
Hi All,
Just wondering that can I submit my website in Dmoz.org. I have tried it according to it guidelines of dmoz but not found it.
Should I use paid service for it or try to resubmit my website.
Thanks,
Kapil Kumar

If you already submitted your website one time then do not submit it again. If your listing has not even been reviewed yet and you submit again, you might push your listing to the back of the line and have a even longer wait.
I would just submit once and move on to other web directories.
Even if you use a paid service to submit your site, there is no guarentee that it will be approved anytime soon. This just my but wait for a dmoz editor to stop by here, we have a few roaming around that can give you the correct advice.

it takes a lot of time since every site is approved manually by a moderator. it will get submitted only if you have quality.

It is not so easy to submit it, since they have so many categories. Be sure that you submit to the right one.

I think Google also left DMOZ. Try getting backlinks from other high PR dofollow sites than wasting your time to get this approved. You can use paid services to get high quality links from 100's of high PR site than getting listed in DMOZ

I pondered on answering this in my usual fashion, but I've decided to take a different tact.
One of the reason's that a DMOZ listing is given such credence, is because they don't accept everyone. That means some people (many in this case) will never get listings, for any of their websites, no matter how hard they try, because they simply do not make the cut.
To paraphrase the popular tagline from John West which claims to be have the greatest Tuna products...
It's the links DMOZ rejects, that make DMOZ the best
By turning away so many people DMOZ creates it's own aura. So well known, and yet so hard to get into. Time to take the lumps of medicine peeps, cos I'm tired of trotting out my same old "read the guidelines" yarn that people ignore anyways. Accept that you didn't get listed and move on, because they aren't going to magically discover your website, and go "Wow this is awesome!!! we have to add this!". They really, really aren't.

DMOZ is still adding sites, there could be a number of reasons your sites have not been added.
Not reviewed yet.
Contain similar content to other sites.
Are just plain rubbish & not meet guidelines.
May have forwarded to a better fit category for which another editor may need to review them.
That's only a few reasons, but because your sites are not listed does not mean they are not adding sites.

We have over a million categories.
We have around 6000 volunteers who work as much or as little as they wish within the scope of their permissions. You do the math.
If no editor is interested in working in a category, it's going to lie fallow until one or more do. That's the nature of our volunteering model .
If you think that some category is more important than any current editor does, why not become part of the solution and apply to become an editor? I strongly recommend that you first read this good advice.

I think that there are number of problems for not listing
1- Your site contain illegal content
2- Your site contain duplicate material
3- You are not submitting your site to proper categories.
4- You already submit your site to dmoz.

Considering that we had an editor post in this thread and have a few more editors lurking on this forum, no need to keep this thread opened. Read the response below.
