This is probably the one of the most stupid threads I have read here and so far I have decided not to dignify it with a response. But against my better judgment:

yes I agree with you... that's over laziness from the part of some editors (3-4 years to list a website
|
Where do you get off accusing volunteer editors lazy. They owe you nothing. Zip.

i have never saw one of my site listed in singapore cat. there is no editor. Some listing on the site are only domain pointing on a site and it is listed. i was so surprise to see that.
|
There are a number of editors active in Singapore. There are a good number of sites in unreviewed, most of them are crap. If your site is not crap it may get listed.

I refuse to submit anymore, at least until I see a reform as you mentioned. lol, take that DMOZ.
|
Dmoz does not care. It is generally recognized that the best source of quality sites is not always submitted sites.

I was locked out for being an open critic of the policy.

Absolute bollocks. Constructive criticism is always tolerated, No editor has ever been removed for such criticism. Harassing or abusive behavior is not tolerated.

All DMOZ needs is for Google to stop using it's database and it will wither and die like it should have a long time ago.
|
If google was to somehow ignore DMOZ then it would stop being perceived as google marketing tool. That would not altogether be a bad thing. Neither google or DMOZ depend on each other.

Still, George, it would be nice if DMOZ became a community project again.
|
When did that stop? If you mean a community where self interested abusive editors are accepted then it ain’t going to become that sort community. Also, John, you are not confusing the directory with the community are you? They are quite different things.

Set up community project for directory by V7 would be nice meh... Everyone over this forum may have the chance to be an editor
|
If you or someone else were to set up a community based directory I would be fully supportive. Competition is a good thing. I might even join. But don’t forget many have tried and many have failed.

DMOZ should be burried and forgotten. Many of their catagories are spammed to death anyway by their own editors.
|
Once we find editors who do that they are removed end of story. File an abuse report.

i agree with you it should be restructure

What restructuring do you propose?

Arent there are Dmoz editors here in the v7n forum ? If so cant they help out a little? Can someone tell me why it takes so darn long to get your site listed i Dmoz?
|
Because there are lots and lots of sites submitted, and we need to be realistic about this. There are a limited number of editors. SE's like google have bots, we have a limited number of humans who also have real lives, sorry but that is the way it is. There is lots of spam submitted. There are lots of sites submitted to wrong categories. Many submitters don’t read the guidelines only 1 or 2 sites per hundred are submitted with useable titles and descriptions. In amongst all of this there are some gems. That the way it is. Sorry. If you don’t like it don’t submit.
