Three of my sites are in Dmoz. One of their editors is a regular on all three of my forums. My main site has been in for ages, but I started two new ones and he put those in right away.

But, to tell you the truth, it doesn't really make "that" much difference. At least I can't really tell any.

I just want to apologize ahead since I am having a bad day today and these kind of answers would put me to rip their eyeballs off their faces if they were just in front of me. Seriously, I am running out of patience with these people who are self-righteous and they are not. They think of themselves as the higher forms of being.
Hello Tantantin,

I think many people will give up to be listed on this directory. Lack of communication, lack of information, lack of status, lack of everything lol

I will just move on and find a better way, we call that in French "system D stand for system Debrouille", it means contour the problem to get the same result

Thanks for answering me,

[quote=PaulX]Editors don't know the status of all suggested sites. An editor can only see the information of sites suggested in categories he is allowed to work in. For sites suggested in other categories he can only see some information if an other editor has handled the suggestion (moved it to another category or rejeted it).
Some DMOZ editors tried to answer status request on Resource Zone but after a few years it was decided that this did not help DMOZ nor did it help honest webmasters.

If you are an honest webmaster (and most are) and you can not find a reason in the guidelines your site will be rejected for you can be sure your site is still waiting review (a proces that can take upto several years in some categories).

Hi PaulX,

Are DMOZ editors serious? that is my question.

Do you thing a webmaster like me put more than 15 grains in my business not to be serious?????

Please don't hide behind your rules, or guidelines. We are here to communicate not to get the DMOZ guidelines we already get the picture.

I was asking a simple question, seems like I will never get the right answer.

Paulx this is the same principal if I told you jump from the riff, would you jump to follow a rule or a guidelines?

Was, I believe is correct.

Johan007 is a v7n regular that I believe is still an ODP editor...

If I may...

Why spend even an ounce of time concerning one's self about being included in the ODP? DMOZ is a closed community, after you suggest... that's it. If you're added, great... if not, there's really not much you can do about it, other than to continue to improve your site(s). If you're added, then removed later on, there's equally little you can do about it, and even less information you can get from the editors (in general).

DMOZ has many issues that I don't like, but one has to ask, just what can I do about it?

Cheers

For DMOZ here are two kinds of webmasters. The real and honest ones, they create genuine websites for genuine business or about thei hobby. These ones we like and are willing to help them by listing tehir site.
The other sort of webmasters we don't like. They are the spammers sending us large amounts of sites that are totaly not listable (mirrors, copied content with lots of atvertisements, affiliates of other companies etc.). They are responsible for about 70 to 80% of all suggestions.

But without reviewing a site the guidelines are the only things we can direct you to. I am not goint to review sites in this or any other forum, and I doubt that any other editor will.

Yes, you simple question is (as I understand): when will my site be listed.
DMOZ simple answer is: we don't know.
Are we going to give status for suggested sites: I am afraid this will not happen until the spammers stop suggesting sites, we don not want to them any information at all, unlukely the honest webmaster will have to suffer for their behaviour

DMOZ does not force or tell you to do anything at all. You may suggest sites if you want to do so, we only promise that we will look at it sometime in the future. If you don't want to suggest a site that is also perfectly OK with us, maybe we will find a reference to it in some other place and list it. We might even find this other reference and have listed the site before we look at the suggestion.
Seems all very simple to me.

Hi PaulX,

If an editor is active in user forums such as this, and they come across a poster's web site that is related to the category or categories that they edit, why wouldn't they check it out?

Or was that statement pertaining to reviews "by request"... that much I understand.

Cheers

I can only speek for myself.
If I see a link to a website related to a category I am personaly interested in I will look at that site and if it is listable list it directly.

But if somebody asked me to look at their site I most certainly won't.

Hello PaulX,

Sorry I did not want to be rude or anything, this is just frustrating to wait so long and not to be sure to get listed.

Anyway you give us a little bit more info on how it works.

Thanks for your time.
