JohnScott, how come you list http://zeal.looksmart.com/index.html as a major directory? on http://www.professional-submission.com/directories.php isn't that more of a social book marking site?

do you put large emphasis on social bookmarks. i have seen many people have a link on their page that says bookmark us a del.icio.us. does this do much? my sites are bookmarked there, but don't come in the top search results when going to those sites. is this now another thing i should be optimizing for?

I don't list that URL.

I listed http://www.zeal.com/ but Zeal got shut down a bit ago. It used to be a rather large directory.

I used to be a member and very sad to see my hard work gone down the tube! The site never passed any PR but it powered the Looksmart directory a long time ago and did a very good job, MSN are mad not have brought it and used it in the same way Dmoz is used by Google. Anyone got any more information on what exactly happend?

LookSmart is a business, in business for profit. Zeal was a money hole.

Nice list of web directories at http://www.professional-submission.com, may I give you a few suggestions.

- Biz Directory > move to 85directory.com, payment Euro 31,95
- ODLP > landing page from hosting party

I might be nice to open the links in _blank, easier to go through the list.

A few other top web directories (imo)

- dirspace.com (bit of selfpromotion

)
