Directory Owners - Allow auto submit?

Howdy.

I turned the "visual confirm" function on over the weekend and found a large hit to submit discrepancy. This lets me know that a large amount of my traffic is from auto submit bots. I kind of figured, because my submit.php page always has many more hits than my front page.

The bots don't generate any revenue for my adsense or other click schemes, so they suck.

The bots do generate a higher traffic rating, ranking me higher in the various SEO directory lists, etc, which in turn creates additional traffic. So the bots are great?

Please let me know if I like bots, or not bots. I have bottled up feelings, and need to plot for, or against the bots.

I have a feeling that this topic will be hot, maybe not. What do you think Scott? Does bot equal link rot?

Auto-submit opens you up to a LOT of spam.

I have actually got 2 steps that block auto-submitters.
1. - must input the unique number thing
2. - must review submitted details and click the "confirm your details" button AFTER filling in the form.

So autos are not coming thru.
Sure i loose submissions, but as you said, you gain no doe from them.

And this way, i control my content and can manage a cleaner, more user-friendly directory, even if it takes longer to build up.
