Perhaps top 25 lists, sorted by specialism - eg, SEO directories, gaming directories, local directories, etc.

One pet peeve of mine are directories that intentionally go out and publicize themselves as a free directory, knowing full well they are going to go paid as soon as the first PR update comes out, yet their links and references will still linger on all the free lists and resources.

If you are going to go pay, then I feel you are obligated to go back and update your information where you spammed it to begin with. If you are incapable of doing it, then don't post your free directory information to begin with, because it is the epitome of a bait and switch.

I'm not sure that paid directory owners want the free label. I've always had a paid inclusion directory and sometimes it gets on a free directory list. I hate that.

Beware! Don't trust any http://www.isedn.com/ members. 90% their directories is a crap. ISEDN link them from pr6 homepeage. Also, they got links from ISEDN partners such as Haaba and ExactSeek (all pr6). That's why all this directories with PR5 and PR6.
When you submit to this directories... they all have the same link partners and for search engine it can be cross linking. Also they never approve and turn from free to paid every day.

heydudes.net - after you submit free link, they send you e-mail to link them back. If you don't link them afterwards, they remove your link.

I believe the ideas good, but at the same time someones has to control the board, and its like spaming a site you dont like...wow...This could be pretty dangerous..

Good idea John,

Great directory section anyways, for the do`s and dont`s of building a quality directory. Taking it all in for my flagship.....sorry it will be paid only.
