If you are unhappy with the service that they are providing you, then perhaps you should try and ask for a refund.

DMOZ doesn't accept all sites, so don't take it personally...

Now Value if Dmoz has gone down because the directory has less number of moderators. I am also a moderator at Dmoz but I can only manage a small fragment of the items. For more important topics there are no moderators. Therefor now a day, very few sites get approved.

If dmoz doesn't accept you, try other online directories, esp r-tt.com. You can then try to resubmit your site to dmoz since it has been a year and their policy of not notifying rejections is bad and counter-productive to all. R-tt alone & others can help your site very much and possibly get looked at with more respect by dmoz.

Why is it bad and counterproductive?

After you submit a site, one of several things will happen:
1) It gets listed; life goes on and there is nothing more you can do
2) It gets rejected; life goes on and there is nothing more you can do
3) Its still waiting to be reviewed; life goes on and there is nothing more you can do

Why is being notified of what happened going to change anything?

If you are unhappy with the service DMOZ is providing, perhaps you should ask for a refund.

Perhaps everyone should remember the most important points.

DMOZ is a volunteer Organisation where volunteer Editors undertake their hobby of categorizing websites that they find interesting, that add value to the directory and are compliant with the guidelines. DMOZ IS NOT your everyday directory that guarantees a listing or offers a listing service to webmasters for SEO benefit.

You are INVITED to suggest your website or any other site but at no stage do we guarantee a listing, at no stage do we promise a time frame for a review and we quite openly tell you that we will not contact and advise you if it is listed, if it is rejected or what.

If.....and i say If........If you are an Editor, then you should know the statement you made is totally wrong. There are 100's of Editors that can access EVERY category in the directory and although many categories do not have named Editors, these categories still get edited. The problem is that we have MILLIONS of categories, so its understandable that it takes time for the suggestion pools to be looked at. This is further compounded when people do multiple suggestions, then other people submit garbage sites that are simply unlistable.

You also said that you only handle a small "fragment"....thats fine if you dont wish to do more than that. No Volunteer is forced to do anything that he or she doesnt wish to do. When i last looked the stats showed that we generally average about 10,000 new sites per month added to the Directory so how you can say,

i simply dont know. It is totally wrong.

To everyone else, we are simply Volunteer Editors doing our hobby and if we do not meet Webmasters SEO wants & needs, we really dont care because we never intended to, to start with.

Well DMOZ certainly did not say that because as you can see and read in many posts, we DO NOT reply or converse with people suggesting sites. Having a company name is NOT a requirement so that would not dissallow the site being listed.

I can only suggest that you mixed up or got confused but that response was in no way from DMOZ.

Cheers
Snooks.
