Don't hold your breath. I first submitted my site 3 years ago and it's current status is "waiting to be considered".

Mine was accepted within a couple weeks. Some people wait days, some wait years.

But Jazzee, with that beautiful smile anybody would do whatever you asked. I'd accept in a minute. There is something wrong with them if they took two days?????

My CSS Tutorial was added in 3 days, but everything else is taking much much longer. You know...you could always just become the editor

The thought had crossed my mind. It would be good if you could know what's happening with a particular category. It seems the one I submitted to hasn't been updated for a long time. I can't see any way to find out if there even is a registered editor for that category. If not, I think I could do a fair job on it.

Any advice from the DMOZ editors here?

That's easier said than done. I was an editor at one point in time. Worked hard and did a good job I thought. I applied for a change of category and was refused without and explanation.

Since then I have reapplied to be an editor on at least one occasion and didn't even get a response. It seems to be as difficult to become an editor as it does to get your site accepted.

The other thing to bear in mind if you do become an editor, is that to do the job correctly it is a ton of work. It can take a couple of hours per day.

Hmmm, that's too much. Still, whoever is in charge of the category I submitted to apparently hasn't done two hours work in the last two years. Even if I did a completely half-arsed job it would be better than what's happening now.

I did notice somewhere at DMOZ a control of sorts which said if an editor didn't login for a long time they would be booted off. It's possible that this has happened to my category and no one's in charge. Is there any way of finding out?

Well, after posting that message just over a month ago I did some more research and applied to be editor of the category. This morning I got the acceptance email so I'm in!

I've approved one site so far (guess which one?) and there are about 40 more waiting. I'll do lots of reading when I can and sort this category out.
