I need directory submissions
What's the best way to get submissions to my new lawyer directory. It's industry specific so I can't just take everything and I can't really think of any way to get listings.
They are free by the way.

Lots and lots of attorney directories out there, so it really is a hard industry to break into. I guess if you're serious about it, make it a high traffic directory and the attorneys will submit.

Ya there a lot of big attorney and law related directories, so it would be hard getting submissions in your directory until u establish it well and gain loads of backlinks and high PR...

Some of my thoughts:
- Get rid of the digitalpoint coop links in the footer. I see that they link to sites like ringtones, debt consolidation, hotels, etc. Most legal websites don't link to these sorts of websites, so I would think that this raises a bit of a red flag with the search engines.
- I'd seed the directory with listings. No one wants to submit a website to an empty directory, even if it's free.
- You may also want to categorize by legal specialty. E.g. people aren't looking for a "Pennsylvania Attorney" but rather a "Pennsylvania Divorce Attorney."
- You may also want to categorize by city. People will often search for their city name. E.g. people want a "Philadelphia Attorney" rather than a "Pennsylvania Attorney"
- If you are successful at getting rankings for legal keywords, people will list their websites. While I agree with John's and sizzler_chetan's statements that the legal industry can be a hard industry to break into, there are many local type searches that aren't too hard to rank for. Think smaller cities and smaller legal specialties and then as your rankings improve, you can optimize for larger cities and more competitive specialties.
- Get a professionally designed custom skin.
All of course, IMHO.

As much as I love the DP forums, I have never been in the coop for reasons like that. The coop links look spammy when implemented onto a professional site.

there are lots of law related forums out there. Offer a 'free' or 'discounted' submission to folks on those forums...

Well first the best thing is to submit your directory itself to the dirs.
