Worth paying someone to submit in free directories?

I have seen a few website which charge $30 or so to submit to 100 free directories... has anyone tried it? Would it be worth it? $30 may be less but if there is no submission then it ain't worth it..

Has someone done this? Any company recommended?

Depends, most of those just use automated submission to half-heartedly attempt to get your site listed. Not worth $1 IMO.

lots of indian submitting companies.

seach for then in your favorite SE.

I would recommend using the SEO friendly list created by Dan.

I just payed peanuts to get 19 of my sites submitted to 200 pr3+ directories.

will wait and see what happens, but as they say, pay peanuts and you get monkeys.

I have sites in dmoz adn recieve zero or a couple of hits from that directory.

Has anyone looked at there stats and seen dmoz really driving traffic to there site?
Or boigboig.net ?

I have not. Neither have my clients.

Anyone here? and what kind of numbers are you talking about?

Maybe it will, maybe not.

But even Scott states that the main selling point for his directory is the SEO link and not the traffic it can push your way.

I see that you don't like directories much, I don't like them either but I think that they (or webmasters behind them) created a world of money making opportunities for people that do submiting.... and they still boost pr

i just have the feeling the directory market has shifted form adding value to the visitor to just having a seo link for the web owner.

just my opinion though, and thats probably not even worth the price of submitting to 1000 directorie !

Yes, I agree quality is the key here.

I hate most directories.
Why, because I think there cr@p. Most accept almost 100% of the sites submitted to them.

They only offer a seo friendly link. There not authoritative. There just link farms.

Do I think all directories fall into this link farm tag? No I don´t. There are a few (very few) that have strict editorial guidelines and maintain them.

But most will get you a back link now. But what do YOU think will happen to the value of that back link over time?
