PR is not everything but is quite a lot.. that's the basis for charging a high listing fees, people don't get their websites listed in the directory to get traffic, all they want is higher SE ranking and a good PR

True, but most business owners that need link building don't even know what PR is .... Half of them don't even care to know what PR is, or how good your directories Alexa ranking maybe... they just want to be positioned #1 or increase sales. It's probably better that way I guess.

Today, PR of the directory does not mater much. Its the editorial integrity (quality of sites listed), frequency of Google cache that matters most from SEO view point.
