What WILL work on web directories, are affiliate programs from other web directories. Especially if your web directory is a paid one too.

I SO agree. I've said that to sooomany friends who own several directories each, and only ahandfull listend, the ones that actually started making money. Glad theres someone thinking straight! Nice one Cristian.

Thanks for sharing you wikepedia style article,
People are nowwadys using funny ways to monetize their directory, like including adsense column between two category columns, load site with a lot of pop up/ads etc.. and fianlly it look like an advertising program rather than directory

Cristian, you didn't mention another potential source of revenue: running ads in the email notifications to submitters. It's a targeted market for SEOs/SEMs, web developers (it's surprising how many submissions could use professionally help), etc.

Lots of quality posts...
The way you blog is quite engaging, Cristian!
For all those who haven't already done so, I encourage everyone to read your blog's other articles as they're equally interesting (in regards to other matters, of course).
Continue your excellent work ; )
