Is Yahoo directory worth it?
Is Yahoo directory worth the $299 a year fee? How many visitors do you guys get from it or is your listing purely for SEO?

I would say yes..
Some would argue that it could hurt your organic rankings in Yahoo, but while it may hurt in Yahoo it would more than likely help in Google and MSN. So overall, I would recommend it.

If you have a nonprofit site, you can try to get a free listing. Not easy, though.

I've had a listing for several years and get maybe 1-2 visitors per year from the link. However, I agree with JS and think it is worth it in these days of supposed trust rank.

Well a link from the directory may help your site in rankings, but not easy though.

why would a yahoo directory listing hurt your rank in yahoo searches? seems like they'd almost favor you.
I've heard of people gaining faster results from yahoo submission than any other single link they've placed, but I haven't tried it.

It will not hurt your rankings in Yahoo that is very unlikely, I'm not sure where that came from. (yes I saw someone did say that in the first response). My opinion is the Yahoo directory is worth the $299.00 fee.

I think the 'hurt your rankings' idea is probably a grapevine twist of some people complaining that Yahoo uses the directory descriptions for listings in the search results sometimes (which may not be as enticing as what would otherwise appear).

I have not used it myself, but I know several people who swear by its effectiveness, so I would likely suggest it a good idea if you have the resources.

Most of the experts said yahoo directory is the best directory now, so submitting to it is worth the money.
I think submitting to a directory is mainly for SEO, since directory can't bring direct traffic. However, directory can increase your backlinks, and submitting to those big directories, you are also submitting to the big search engines.

Well it might be still worth it but if you dont have that big budget then I would advice you to go for other important directories rather than $299.

Well its debatable and I have had this debate over at my forum.
I think its good to have your site listed but not value for money. Getting your site listed means you can get traffic and also some PageRank from Yahoo but paying $299 is not worth it

Sure it's debatable, but where else are you going to get that much "trust" for just 82 cents a day.
It's not uncommon to get multiple listings from a single submission.

Well I must say that the people for whom the listing has worked are with it and for whom it have not they are against.
