I just finished processing a batch of ~40 submissions today and was quite surprised to see 2 submissions from the lot that actually were in 100% full compliance with the submission guidelines! Woo hoo! A new record!

ok - mmariusel's company just finished submitting to just over 500 engines. So far I've received responses from around 180 or so and most of them have been approved.
They did follow directions and I haven't been receiving recips.
I'll update in a few weeks with more info. So far, so good.

I thought I'd make a post about how NOT to do submissions, in order to better educate those who do submissions.
1. Submission Uniquesness
Do not submit the same anchor text and description every time. Vary the submission anchor text, description, etc, to give each submission uniqueness.
Google of course loves automated filters twhich combat SEO's, and uniqueness provides some level of security in the face of automated algorithms.
2. Use a Real Email
One submission company based in India uses fake email addresses with their submissions. Doing so means that they are wasting your money and their time when they submit to web directories that require an email address be confirmed before the submission appears in the queue.
3. Submit to Wed Directories that Accept Submissions
Some web directory submission services base their price on the number of submissions. It appears that many of theses places do not care that those submissions will not get approved. It's especially obvious that they do not care when they submit to v7n directory even though we state in plain English that we won't review non-paid submissions.
They also submit to dozens of other web directories that do not accept free submissions.

Hi John,
Thats pretty scary, and in the last 4 days ive deleated 350 sites, and that was only in 1 1/2 categories wait till i get the whole page done...
Im not the type of guy that likes to take chances, and you surely had some good info...
I have another 8000 links to go through, but i just wanted to say thanks for showing me how to clean my directory.....

IMHO, title of the thread is misleading. It suggests avoid indians for directory submissions
Do you mean all *other* companies based out of india do not make these mistakes?
PS: Referring to title only

1st annoyance
I'm getting so much spam now. With the other company I used, I did have an increase in spam with the other submission company I've used but no where near the amount of spam I'm getting now.

I never realized the spam these indian companies were putting out..
some have cal. city usa, with india phone #
some sites have a web page and when you press to get into it .... the site blanks out..
The employment categories are big... or small product sells ive seen alot of them... i ghess you send your $20 and you get no product.
I dont think john said anything miss leading in his tital... I think john was saving alot of futuristic problems with there page.. My directory is ave 180 to 240 submissions a day, and i cant afford to be mega spammed by any type of sites, and john said be leary... not dont submit.

Do you mean ALL Indian companies are like that! sorry but I differ. If John had a problem he should have clearly mentioned the company names, Instead title conveys a message stay away from Indian companies Spammers are every where and not restricted to any one country...its foolish to blame a country based on experience of 2-4 companies.

Most of the directory owners are sending unwanted email, even you do not submit to a newsletter. They just use the email used in submission. You cannot do nothing against this, I am using a special email for submissions, usually linked to the domain that is submitted.
My suggestion is always submission@domain.com ad use only for submission.

No, not all, just the ones I know of. I'd love to know which Indian submission services practice better submission tactics.

I think the thing with Indian companies is, most directory submissions are outsourced to India, and most submission services suck. So it stands to reason that most bad submissions come from India, even if there are plenty of good ones coming from there as well. Standards are low everywhere.
I tend to reject submissions that don't follow my guidelines, and if two or more of my guidelines are broken I won't visit the website at all. I don't think there's any point in encouraging people to submit badly, or to pay for bad submission services.
Unfortunately it's hard to identify who the best submitters are, because the best practice is to use an email that matches your domain. I know I approve a lot of submissions from HighPosition.net, but the only reason I know this is because they submit using their own email rather than that of the client's website, so they lose one point for that.
