Which one is a better way to make one's directory acknowledged by people around?

Inviting free submissions?
Advertising it? (tell ways to advertise it?)
Or can i leave a link here as though am a thin part of this thichk community but i think my learning experience counts vat say?

Advertising it. Spend money and show people you're serious about promoting it.

Spending money i believe should be done after you build something worth submitting to.

Promoting a site with a low pr, no back pages, no serp, No real product to sell is like me going to L.A california playing a guitar with a cup sitting next to me begging for money.(Ha , Ha)

Inviting free submissions won't help you much if you do not get any traffic, you'll need lots of backlinks first.

Build a good directory and you wont have to worry so much about back links to later.

Fame comes from doing your job pushing sites to the top of the board ...

back links are not as important till you establish your job....Then and only than id worry about how many back links i get..

Your a web directory,and we all know it takes alittle time to get noticed on a serp. It took me 3 mo to get#1 in my when i was
brand new on the board.

I was a pr 3 when i got my 1st #1 Serp in every search, and the only way i did it was by looking at my web page, and making my own script that fit the category i wanted to be in ... local and regional directory

once you start submitting submit to relative sites with high serp to push your content high witch will oviously push your site to higher serp positioning witch with the positioning youll get more quality links.

If companies see you pushing other companies to be seen in there category they will buy your link if your a pr 0 this is to help there busness sell more product.

its time for me to get paid, because i have alot of categories to do my job as a directory should, and my site gets about 500 links a day, but i have only been on the board 1yr ...2 wks ago...so after this update rankland will be paid only.

Directory marketing is multifaceted. You need to advertise for submitters as well as the general public. For submitters you should consider popular webmaster resources and for users search engine advertising is a good start. As for an advertising budget around $50,000 per year will get your foot in the door if used wisely.

Yes this is my last step, but im getting with my partner on how much to spend , and how to spend it. We have done well so far in making our directory noticed..... now we will get the popularity we deserve..
