The Best 20 or 30 Directories

I am new to the forum, and hope I am posting in the right area. However, is there a top 20-30 paid directory list out there? A list beside DMOZ, Yahoo, etc. Or, are there qualifiers to look for in regards to choosing which directories to purchase links from?

It really depends on what your shooting for SERP, pr, popularity, a site that has popular links....

To answer your question i dont believe there is one site other than google that can give you the best results in more than one of these categories at one time.

I think you need to understand how you want to get to the top, and stick with that strength while you submit to the top sites in those categories.

I was fully into serp, you might want to be strong in pr, and if thats the case pull out your wallet.

Hmm, what I've been doing is a two-fold approach. Content and linking. Regarding linking, I am going for a variety of linking. Reciprocals, paid contextual, article submission, forum links (I understand there is little to no value in forum links), directory submissions, etc. So, in the area of directory submission, I've come to the conclusion that free directory links are a waste because your link is so far back that half the time the page isn't even indexed. So, I've been focusing on paid directory links, especially permanent, featured links.

Anyway, that's where I am at and why I am looking for recommendations on quality paid directory lists. However, I am open. Maybe I am doing it wrong!?!

I'd recommend these:

http://directory.v7n.com/ - Sure, it's mine, but it is also a damn good directory. Quality web directories don't happen by accident, and running a crap directory is a lot easier than running a quality one.

I Try to stay away from recips, but everybody has there one thing. I believe if you are shooting for content...

google yahoo msn alta vista and so on all have different results....

web directory

free web directory to submit

free web directory

local and regional directory

regional directory

local directory

All these sites in the first three pages will pull your content, but try every search in one category before you move on, because it will get confusing.

my site is the #1 local and regional direcory..... in every search and #1 in many other key words as well.
The way i see it is once you have good content pr,quality links, popularity, and traffic will follow.

One of my old favorites is thisisouryear.com. I've also been recently submitting to directory.v7n.com, aviva.com, umdum.com, and of course my own jtrotta.com. I'm probably about to submit to botw.org

Don't be telling people about that one. It's one of my favorites and I'm trying to keep it a secret.

If i have a pr9 and i hit my category and it shows pr0 you will get pr0 from that page.

what alot of new sites do not understand is you can only get as high is the back page pr. of the submitted category from the site you submitted to.

Front page pr doesnt mean anything but to the site ego of the site that owns it.

So if your paying for site right now when you hit realestate look at the google page rank it shows in that category not what it shows on front page.

Most important go to the sites google links to see if there site is pushing links from site, because you are paying for that link from google.

Any site could put you in yahoo or msn not every site google exects there link.

Be careful from bought links in google, because if you see blog links and every other linkyou can imagine but none from site there is areason for it.

A true link in googl looks like this.....

Go to: submit express..........link popularity....tap on http you want to see...hit #of google links and it will show you this site linking sites...

if the link shows....

http://www.rankland.com
selling large homes that matter
realestate.com
http://www.rankland.com

This link is pulling from site, and this is what you should be looking for when buying links.

There are only a hand full of sites that are doing this job when you look at there google links.

Im new i have 261 google links, but 80% from site, and if you check my home pages youll see alot of sites google did not index me on. Some of these big sites are going to be very upset to see these links when they do get indexed, but to bad.
