It depends on the category you are going to be listed in and where does it rank. Even small directories that happen to rank decently for some keywords related to your site can send you traffic. However, your best bet are niche directories.

Key words and serp position tells me whats going to best suit my site..... Not genral directory or niche directory.
Let the strongest prevail the submission.. ..site content power is the key to submission, and success.

Depends on your topic too.
Getting traffic from web directories:
On which subjects?
What products?
Which topics?
That doesn't apply to all sites, let's be honest.

I submitted v7n a wk ago, and havnt even got a email to my site that it was recieved. My site has good pr. quite a bit of #1 serp categories in all searches, and is a pretty well known directory. I just dont understand why the editors havnt emailed my site.

It appears that it was in the backlog of submissions, just looks like it was published.

Putting the URL in the description is bad manners. No serious directory will approve a submission that includes the URL in the description field, no?

Bravo John, I removed all the time the url in title, a lot of people do that and I really don't understand. They submit the url and duplicate again in the title, that doesn't give anything more then spam. If the title is made correctly people will click on, period.
