No one ever said having pr. is not a helpful thing...And as far as people linking is concerned in google or yahoo......wow directory ......is a contender for any directory with links in google and yahoo......to bad im #1 serp in his category local and regional directory , and he is in 2d place, but i have no where near the links wow has in google or yahoo.

That's right, I never said anything like that, what I did say was...

It makes me think that all this PR chasing going on is perhaps a waste of time when it comes to serps?

2. you are nowhere in the top 100 for local directory on my search
3. you ranked for regional directory 30 something`th

Bottom line is this isn't an ego contest to me. It's a collaboration amongst my peers in which I try to help as best I can.

You may not know me from DP, but I'm not one to downplay anybody. I always speak the truth and what's on my mind. I truly am I nice guy, but if someone takes an attitude towards me, I'm going to come right back, and be swift about it.

What is the benefit to having a high PR in the real world outside that of directory owners and forums like this. Does PR benefit a directoreis position in Google, Yahoo or MSN, and are you likely to find them any easier?

A most of the top search results for a competitive search engine listing is at least a 5 or higher. PR is important.

If I did a search for 'directories' and not one of the 'smaller' directories with higher pr like Aviva and Alive are in the top 100, which is what I was trying to ascertain. You are right that most of the directories under that keyword term directories have a high PR but I would put money on it that they got listed because of quality not PR.
