Help find the Bad backlink!

Hi guys,

I am currently promoting my site and I noticed a huge drop in the SE's for one key word in just one day.

Now I think I have tracked it down to these following sites as they put my link up on and around the date of said SE page rank drop.

These guys signed me up to the 3 sites, they maybe mirrors and hence bad?

bust.com kinda unrelated but one of my competitors uses it so it can’t b bad right?

Well, in my opinion backlinks should not hurt you in anyway. But I guess there are people who disagree

Well I havent bombed 100s of links only 30 tops.

What if one of my backlinks is a 'bad neighbour' that's banned by google or has some kind of penalty? (mirror sites?)

Only one of my keywords has droped so i figured it must have been one of the newer sites that linked to me (some I have linked back to)?

Or is it coz my site is only 6mths old, and the SE's are randomly rearranging my ranking?

You are looking at the wrong thing mate. If it was possible to sink a site by simple pointing bad links at it the SEO industry would be an all out war.

Take a look at whats on your own pages first - it could be bad code (i.e. malware) or even one of your outbound links.

My rankings are jumping around alot, like 100 or so spots each day so I guess ill wait a week and see the results.

Also when I said some of the backlinks mentioned have links from my site so its either that or google getting use to my site as nothing else has changed on it.

You can't equate cause and effect in this business like that. The Google algorithm is to complex to surmise that a few bad links could drastically alter SERP rankings so sudden. Improve your web site for your visitors and don't worry about who links to you.

It was probably algorythm change. Nothing happen with your backlinks and they can't hurt your site.

Don't put links in your site that is consider as bad site. This could hurt your rankings.

Ive been #1 SERP for over a yr 1/2, and it has nothing to do with a few bad links in your site thats going to pre determine your value serp.
Using your script total, and keywords to fit your site content, will build the strength of your page.
Everybody talks about the sandbox, and whens google going to be nice to me , and let me out..... Come on.

The way you must look at your directory is like a power box..............

I would not let my team submit this site.......It would be just like me submitting a classified that had nothing to do with my directory.



IF I WERE TO MATCH WITH HIGH POWER SITES THAT SHARE MY SAME CATEGORIES, AND THE SITE WAS LOOKED LIKE IT WAS GOING IN THE DIRECTION I WAS IN SERP, KEY WORDS AND SO ON.

Exactly, its probably the "Google Dance". My guess is that Google is testing a few things before the next major page rank update.
