PHPLinkDirectory vs. PHPLynx vs. IndexU vs. Powerseek

Hi everyone,

I have looked over some of the more recent posts that compare directories. I picked up lots of info.

My own project will require integrating posts from a Wordpress Blog onto corresponding directory pages as they are displayed. I would like to do this using standard HTML/CSS practices. I am also interested in having excellent spam protection or an ability to integrate Akismet or Bad Behavior into the directory script should this become necessary.

If anyone has experience working with the leading products such as PHPLD, PHPLynx, IndexU, PowerSeek, or any of the others, I would be interested in hearing pros and cons from your experiences. I include Powerseek, since it is one of the high-end products I am looking at and would like some opinions on whether it is worth the cost.

Thanks for your help.

Rich

You should be able to add an RSS reader script like Magpie or Carp and add some simple code to the template for any of the directory scripts you mentioned. The integration you are asking about shouldn't make any difference to the directory script you are using.

Hi Bernard,

I thought about this, but this would be dependent upon my current RSS feed. What I would like to do is a bit more page specific. The post I am looking for, for example, may not be in the feed. What I think I have to do, is retrieve the post from the Wordpress tables, and then format them within the directory template. I think it should be doable, but I would have to be able to modify the appropriate scripts, which may or not be plausible or complicated, depending upon how each script is structured. Does this make sense?

Thanks for your help.

Rich
