Aviva Directory banned from Google?
Google is recently taking paid links too seriously.
Aviva Directory, one of the best directories is currently removed from Google because of the same reason.
Search for "Aviva Directories"
Almost all good directories have bought links from highly ranked websites. Does this mean that its the end of the Link Market?

They certainly aren't banned. It's possible they're penalized because they don't rank for their own name, but that can't be construed as a ban.
Banning usually involves a complete de-indexing of the website.

Toolbar PR hasn't been updated in a long while. It is currently no more accurate (in comparison to real PR) than Alexa Rank...

Although there may be some sort of penalty in place, it is clearly not a ban, as the site is still indexed.

well, anyway it's worrying but... well we should wait some time before making any assumptions, and cross fingers! Either it's too late or well, may be nothing to worry about...

Correct... i first search for the keyword "aviva directory" it has info of the website but not the actual website location. When i tried with "Aviva Directory .com" is showed me a nice listing and about 15500 pages indexed so directory is still there but may be the keyword outbid them..

It is not a penalty I guess. Its a temporary Glitch.
I am also waiting for Rand Fishkin and the group to say something since he and et al had this thing going.
Or was it part of an Ingenious Viral Marketing.

I wouldnt agree on this. Everything seems to be ok for me.
see: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=avivadirectory.com
Further i checked the PR is 6 (see: www.prchecker.info)
It could be a temporary glitch with G. I am not sure why there has been so much hype made about this.

I just checked and the home page is not coming up in Google for Aviva Directory. There is a lot of hype because a lot of people paid good money to be listed in this directory and it's starting to look like money down the drain, if the site is indeed banned. I am still not sure they are banned though, they still have a page rank of six and have a recent index in Google. Normaly when a site is having problems they won't have a Google cache.

Banned = The site is removed from the index.
Penalties = The site does not show in the results for phrases that it is expected to automatically, such as their own name.

I believe it is their own thinking without having any relevance and they are just writing for the sake of writing.
