Paid Directories using the No Follow Attribute
Today I checked my links on Backlinkwatch. I was horrified to find 4 directories using the no follow attribute, 2 of these were paid directories.
Wondered what your thoughts are on the subject, I know mine.

I checked the directories mentioned by you, Links from dream2bid.com & maxlinks.org are still direct. The other two are with nofollow as stated by you. I think the directory should return the money if they change the link from direct to nofollow.

They definitely should refund the money. A nofollow link is worth nothing.

This is what google says
Quote:
Not all paid links violate our guidelines. Buying and selling links is a normal part of the economy of the web when done for advertising purposes, and not for manipulation of search results. Links purchased for advertising should be designated as such. This can be done in several ways, such as:
Adding a rel="nofollow" attribute to the <a> tag
Redirecting the links to an intermediate page that is blocked from search engines with a robots.txt file
Google works hard to ensure that it fully discounts links intended to manipulate search engine results, such link exchanges and purchased links
|
There are zillions of these tiny pay for inclusion directories who exist for one sole reason,---> to manipulate search engine results. Most of these directories have given up even pretending that that these directories exist for people rather than SEs.
That these directory owners add the no follow attribute is honest, lets face it, google did not get to where is today by being stupid and giving any credence to links from these pay for inclusion SEO directories would be exactly that, stupid.

Looks like googles point is starting to hit home, there cleaning out the pr passing useless no visitor directories from the listing.....only right...lol
Directories are everywhere.....attached to backends of sites to gain reciprical links....directories with pumped up pr in order to sell links to pass pr......
where`s the information, where`s the resources.....
Evolution or death.... authority all the way.....

Today it's no follow attribute, what is next?
I think it is wrong, because of this many directories owners will be out of business, myself included.
I will not make any changes for Google, I don't care about their PR, I care about SERPS and Traffic.

Couldn't have said it better myself. SERPS and Traffic is much more important to the little green PR bar.

Well I think you should ask for a refund, If you are getting a huge amount of traffic then It is fine, But if your are not. then go in for a refund. If is as good as that your link does not exist on that page !

Some directories use nofollow. While most of the buyers buy links for PR, others do so for advertising or traffic purpose.
