The Big Google Is Not Good With Directories!

As the Most hottest topic now a days is the Web directories issue...although most of the directories got penalized yet there are some fortunes who are on the safe side ...no one exactly know whats going on ..some directories are switching to no follow atributes..some just trying to drop their paid links without any patience...though google don't like paid links yet they deal in paid links in one way ( Adword ) ..i think its probably the serp and Pr change ...and we should wait for the results!
Regards,
shahbaz

I have web directories, but couldn't care less about them. If you depend on web directories to rank your sites, you are lost to begin with.

This whole Google doesn't like directories thing has always been a bit strange to me dir.yahoo.com has 1.8 million pages indexed and to get into that you need to pay $299 per year... Now isn't that a paid directory?

I think Google do treat new, no established directories with a low priority, but who can blame them for that.

I disagree and would like to hear your interpretation of "counts".

You're right, if you pays $299 to be inserted into the Yahoo directory this should count as a paid link. Now, how can Google knows if you paid or not? The short answer is: it can not.

I think Google will not identify if you submit your site to paid or free directories. It is only count as backlink or inbound links to your site.

I think Google adwords is not working like before, so they just aim directories to keep their monopoly optimized.

Business is low, big fishs are starting to eat the small fishs when there is not enough food for all.

There is definately something negative going on with directories. I just checked the pages that my site is listed on and about half of them have completely lost their Google cache. It looks like the purging has begun, I wonder how Google will decide which directories to destroy and which ones it will allow.

Probably they are droping the sites which have alot of paid links ... they are more intrested in natural traffic than the traffic generated due to paid links ..!!..aviva is one of the victim of Google ....Alot of directories having less ranking got no change ... As far as about Serp it keep on changing periodically .. but i'm wondering that directory.google.com is having the number one position for "Web Directory" though it don't come upto Merit??

Google is supporting directories
Google says “Submit your site to relevant directories such as the Open Directory Project and Yahoo!, as well as to other industry-specific expert sites.”
http://www.google.com/support/webmas...y?answer=35769

But against the directories which has artificially created there page rank and links to get popular and higher ranking

At last some real answers. There are always be people who are fanatics and are blind. It is more likely having a telephone directory delivered in home with blank pages and good to look at if they need something or is this just an alternative to toilet papers when you run out ?

In order for you to judge any web directory, you need to take your blinders off and pretend not to be a search engine manipulator

no because I think there are much better ways to get your sites ranked than submitting to directories.
