For everyone who thinks that DMOZ is d-e-a-d

Taken from http://www.nusuni.com/blog/2007/08/2...t-dmoz-already

"Oh, and just a tip to the webmasters out there, stop getting pissed at them for not accepting your affiliate niche sites. I’ve read probably 50 posts in the last week on blogs and forums about people not getting their sites listed. The funny thing is I go to their site and it is nothing more than affiliate links and stolen content from Wikipedia. What idiots ."

DMOZ adds >2000 new sites a week. No other directory is close to that growth rate. How is that dead or paralyzed?

If DMOZ is dead, Google Pagerank must be too, because it still shows a high pagerank for DMOZ

It's definately not dead as long as Google keeps using it to feed it's own directory.

I still think DMOZ will continue to contribute to the web despite taking a back seat to Web 2.0 initiatives such as Wiki and YouTube. The vast majority of sites in DMOZ are of high quality and there allot of sites!

I was a DMOZ editor once and it was hard work and that along with some unhappy webmasters who can not get listed is the problem.
