How to get listed quicker

is there any meta tags you can implement in your site to have search engines index your site faster / better / etc?

well, this is the webdirectory forum. meta tags mean jack crap in web directories, and for that matter search engines.

web directories just take a matter of time, and you always get listed faster if you know the editor.

search engines you usually get listed faster when you have a link on a site that is already indexed

doesn't do squat......

But yes - there was a meta tag that some thought worked to get you visited more often...

The trick into getting into directories quicker is to submit to the appropriate category and follow the rules. Sometimes when I am lazily editing my directory and I see something e.g. web design as the title of the link (doesn't really distinguish itself from anything else, wouldn't be much help if they all said web design), I don't bother to change it just delete it.

If I see sites, that are submitted into the right category, with the appropriate info, then they are accepted quickly.

It also depends on the directory itself. Certain volunteer directries sometimes have editors who dont edit all that well, abd take around 6 motnhs to even notice your request.

I have heard of some of the top reasons for not getting in are:

Selecting wrong category: check your competitors
Bad spelling: double check and then check again before submitting

Bad url: Check your link, I always cut and paste even I can make a typo

Not sufficent content on the page or nonrelated to entry.
