Thinking of starting web directory Tips Plez?

I have over 180 urls now I was thinking starting my own web directory and I'd like some tips please on not running into trouble with search engines. How not to get my self blacklisted etc all help wold be fantastic

How do attract serious people?
What price if any should I charge ?

Well, there are several free directory code available that has most of what you need in place already. I would suggest that you do charge a fee, but also have a free listing available with different benefits. Make sure that your tree structure of the directory is well themed. I would also suggest a niche directory rather than a general directory.

Because I dont want to turn it into a spamdex.. i will structure it with local buisness - social - etc and I will check every link.. i hope to get reconised as an actual directory rather than a link exchange .. my angle is cost.. pay to get to the top of the ladder with a tier system and advertised links on the home page.. even adverts in the form of articles etc..i bought PHPLD and the url if all fails it cost me £35

well i'll give it a blast lol thanks for the advice though..

The best advice I can offer you is to study the directories that are successful, especially after the recent directory snafu. My suggestion would be to build a quality directory with well thought out, unique categories that offer value for someone that is searching for a site. Get links from various sources to avoid problems. Don't put spammy links all over every page of your directory. This will enable you to attract serious people. There are many factors that go into pricing including domain name, links coming in, etc. Ok, anymore info and I will have to charge you.
