What makes a Link Directory a good Link Directory?

I mean, it's only the Directory's PR that makes you submit you site to it? The link back to your website?

If not then what?

Do you ever use a link directory to search for websites or you only use the main Search Engines?

What makes a Link Directory a good Link Directory?

The approval/rejection rate. Quality directories don't accept poor sites. And to be honest, more than 90% of websites on the internet are worthless. ... this is my opinion

So the PR is not the only thing that attracts user submissions... interresting...
I always thought it was only the PR.

How about those who own at least one link directory? do they actually look carefully at the submitted website, or just add it just to increase the number of user submitted websites?

As a Link Directory editor you have to check each submission very carefully if you care about the Directory's quality. And this is not an easy job.

There are also so many web directories out there, all struggling to be "the best web directory" and fighting for a better position in SERPs, do you think that their editors will not accept a site even if that site isn't exactly what they require in a website in order to be approved?

So many web directories owners are proud of the number of websites they have listed and I think that they'll approve almost any website...

What makes a good link directory for my site:

1) Clean and unique design
2) Related category to my site not more than 2 clicks away from the index
3) Traffic
4) Directories with critics on the site (or a few lines about the site)
5) Optimization of my keywords and title I submitted (This is a bonus)

I dislike directories with sub sub sub sub categories, poor design, adsenses Christmas tree directory, ads everywhere.

I personally prefer the quality of the directory before submittng any of my sites into it....

Its no use if we submit our site in a directory which is full of spam sites ... like as said before by "janhvizdak" .. 90% of websites on the internet are worthless

PR have not much to do with quality as there are a lot of high PR crap directories and also a lot of new/low PR useful resources.

From my point of view a good directory offers unique and quality content, a good directory ranks high in serps and a good directory has editorial integrity

Very Good Points. I have to agree. And I will add that Adsense and banner ads are a main reason why I will reject a site to be submitted to my own directory. If those ads are on the directory I am submitting to? No way!

PR, authority, acceptance policy and, why not, even the visitors they can bring to your website (and I am referring to important directories here).
