Promotion through articles?

Hi all. I'm new here. And i need some help please.
I have opened forum about e-commerce and as any person i try to promote it. At this time i began work with articles. And i'm trying to find any serious sites where i can promote my forum. I began to find some and as i see there are not a lot of it. i began to use http://ecommerce-journal.com to promote my forum. I think it's very serious project about e-commerce and it's very comfortable to me, because i get only direct users who can stay on my forum and discuss on any threads.
I want to know if there any other serious articles promoter about e-commerce because i can't find them. Am i right about beginning from ECJ? What do you think about ECJ?

Hi PRmaker

I don't know anyting about ECJ, and only understand "ecommerce" in the the generic sense. But, what I'd do if I were you, is to write as many articles as you can, of say a min of 250 words about you subject and promote them to the various IM article sites (several of them) but Ezinearticles.com is generally considered to be the jewel in the crown. Then you can include a link to you URL in the Bio box. Usually you are not allowed to put a promo link within the body of you article.

Be wary of article "spinning" software, there are pro & con views about it.

Article promotion was quite popular way back in 2005, but immediately after the major jagger update on Google ( mid 2005), several websites received duplicate content penalty due to publishing their articles on several different websites. Search Engines are highly discouraging duplicate content posted on several niche websites, in order to score top rankings on search engines.

Yahoo can still favour a website based upon bulk of external links ( directories/articles), but Google goes into an alert mode, if it detects any pre-defined pattern in link building excercise. RSS is an excellent way to promote any articles/news, but it could backfire if your article gets crawled first by the higher authority website, rather than your own. You should avoid duplicate content filter which could suppress your rankings. Of course, you can publish article after making slight changes on other websites, but you have to ensure that your website content is unique in terms of text. Your content should not get crawled on other websites. Your content should get crawled on your own website, and then on other websites with a link pointing back to the originator ( ie ur website)

The article may become obsolete when its submitted in hundreds of article sites. Search engines do not find the fresh content in it.
In the recnet google update also there were no sufficient backlinks of articles and the existing ones also got reduced.

BUt still articles count a lot in increasing the traffic to the website.
