I have this problem too. I made the mistake of resubmitting my site a few times as well. I really don't get it, to be honest.

Once you have submitted your site ONCE to the ONE best category, you have done all you can do. Anything else is counterproductive. An editor may or may not choose to use the pool of suggested sites when they looking for sites to add to a category.

I submitted one of my ecommerce sites years ago. The only thing I got out of it was a regional listing. Yet all my competition is in the main section. I re-submitted about 6 months ago too, not that it will likely make a difference.

All the excuses in the world don't add up to 4 years without getting listed.

If your competitors are listed, what is the value to DMOZ in listing you? If the topic (products) are already well covered by the sites already listed in the category, what is the point in listing another site offerring more of the same? If you had somethong to offer that those already listed do not, then maybe its worth listing, but hope that what you have that is unique is very obviously because an editor is not going to look too hard to find it.

How about "DMOZ owes no one a listing". DMOZ is not there as a listing service for webmasters.

  1. Is word “variety” rings any bells to you?
  2. Provide your visitors with choice and freedom for them to decide which site they want to visit
  3. Being just and provide equal opportunity to all sites owners and not only to those whom some freak editor decided to made chosen.

You want me to continue?

People pay too much attention to DMOZ. I agree this directory is one of the best, but it's not worth feeling upset if You didn't manage to add Your site there. There are a couple of dozens of old, high-quality directories the total benefit of which is much more significant than that You can get from DMOZ.

It might just be the human editor you have in that category. If it's really a consistent problem, you might want to report them

Report them for what? Not adding *your* site within *your* time frame? Editors are under no obligation to even look at or use the suggested sites when looking for sites to add to a category! (though most at least browse them from time to time).

Is this official DMOZ position or you just trying to make Editors look bad?

The official DMOZ position is that the role of an editor is to do build a category of unique resources. They use whatever source they like to find those sites.

I feel now-a-days there are other alternate ways to get a SERP boost, than trying with DMOZ.

I saw many time again and again the DMOZ rules. I don't violate any dmoz rule.

Also my source has 49 links from Wikipedia more than year.

ok, but for example if I submit my source in the some best category and after time (some months) I found other more proper category and I made suggestion again.
Do I violate the dmoz rule?
