What to do with an old directory.

I got into the directory thing about a year and a half ago.
To get right to the point, it's been more of a hassle than anything. Bottom line, I just don't have the time to dedicate to it. With over 300 sites to be approved, I would find myself rushing through and not really inspecting the sites like I wanted. Not to mention the spam was just incredible.
I took it down last week.

Now. I may change my mind later and give it another go. But until then, is there some kind of way I can utilize the domain name and do something with it? I've heard about parking a domain, but I've also heard that it isn't it's all cracked up to be.

Any advice?

I recommend you to make it more like portal. Find good niche, place some news, open blog, improve directory itself.

Selling your domain is not the right thing because nobody can imagine when you get money flowing from the sites which you you think are just wastage...so try to give some time to promote it and don't get depressed. Keep patience!!

It is one year old now. So I think you have to plan to run it continuously. You should work on the topic you like.

Maybe you should consider increasing the price you charge for reviewing the listings, as your time should be valuable. I'm sure you will make a little money this way too.
