Post Other Directories

I agree with you that its hard to enter Dmoz but there are many other directories in which you can submit your website to get good quality back links and traffic.

More than 2000 new sites get listed in DMOZ every week. More than half of those were never submitted in the first place.

Its definately worth submitting your site to DMOZ but don't expert a speedy listing. Can take ages to get listed.

i have only one site on DMOZ. looking at the logs, i get less than 1% traffic from that site (maybe a quarter of a percentage). but i guess the back link always helps from an authority site.

How do you know they keep denying your sites?

If you assume that is the case, then you must have submitted your site more than once. How do you think any directory should treat any site that can not follow the guidelines? You submitted more than once - thats against the guidelines! ... and you complain about DMOZ .... don't figure!

BTW, neither of the sites in your signature are listable.

I never rely on Dmoz even though my site is listed in Dmoz directory, still it is helpful to be listed on it!

You are obviously unhappy with the service you are being provided with. Why not ask them for a refund?

Dmoz is a nice quality directory. The only problem they have is time from submission to approval. No time line is guaranteed and it basically depends on the editor reviewing your site.

I like DMOZ so much I became an editor.

My primary work is video and text content creation for the web. I also do SEO and web development for a small number of clients. Like many people I had assumed it was difficult to get listed in DMOZ and likely impossible to become an editor.

While surfing through my hobby areas in the Directory I saw that there was an open category needing an editor. I read the submission requirements, provided my details including all the websites I was affiliated with, and as required, submitted three sites I thought worthy of inclusion that I had "edited".

The process of making the editor application submissions intrigued me with its simplicity, so much so that I submitted a few client sites through the public "Submit a site" process.

Not expecting any result at all I was floored when my client sites were listed within 45 days. Even more astonishing I was accepted a few days later to edit a category that coincides with my passion!

My suggestion is that if you have a complaint about DMOZ' methods or process first look carefully at the written submission requirements, then your own writing and web skills, lastly at the value of content on your site.

If you still don't understand why your sites are not being accepted check to see if there is an editor listed in the category to which you are submitting. If not then apply and help to get the process moving more quickly!

What are you expecting to hear? You got a "think you"screen after suggesting.
