it is quite hard to be listed in Dmoz but I don't think it has a lot of weight once your site is being listed to Dmoz.

I dont think inclusion in the DMOZ is that important, i have plenty of good professional sites that rank well that are not in the DMOZ.

There is better ways to spend time than pacing up and down the office waiting on DMOZ, lol

DMOZ is a good link, nothing less, nothing more. It is not a magic bullet and will not do "THAT" much for your serp allthough it will help.

Good sites get into Dmoz. You just have to be patient.

You could be in for a suprise. It is not that uncommon to get a sie listed in justa few days. It al depends on the topics, the quality of the site etc.

Not if you have your site submitted yourself.

Sure editors are adding dozens of sites they found in Google every day but you can bet our sites will go to “Submitted by Bozos” pending bin and stay in there until such a time Editor stops laughing at us and delete them to free up some space for another batch of ‘losers sites’.

Is there any possibility of getting banned from dmoz forever if we try to submit our site in every 3-4 months?

You won't get banned for that, but it would be a very silly thing to do and only put your site at a disadvantage. Each time you resubmit, you just overwrite the presvious submission with the new date! If an editor chooses to use the suggested sites as a source for new sites and sorts them by date, then you just keep moving your site to the bottom.

I believe that DMOZ.org is a recognition that you have a quality website, if Google directory is inspired from this directory there is a reason.

Anyway it is a nice backlink to have, just be patient after your submission.
