I need your comments of AptHost.com company as I intend to use services from them (shared hosting). They support ffmpeg on their cheap hosting, that's what I need.
Do you know any discounts on them?

The only downtime was a planned server transfer with a weeks advance notice and even then I never caught my sites down.

Pre-paying for at least a year nets you the only discount I know of.

Apthost.com is a reputable company and I have read many positive feedbacks about them. As for specials they provide some and they are stated on their web site. All depends on the service you want to use from them. For shared hosting they offer 15% off billing cycle, code - fallishere.

In this thread I gave these guys a blanket endorsement. And what I said was true at the time I said it.

I just need to update this. On 11-20-08 I was notified that they will no longer be using Apache to sevrve web pages one week hence. They are switching over to nginx and all mod-rewrite functions have to be re-written.

As I post this I am undecided whether it is worth the effort or not. Will update the thread later. I guess what I am saying is:

If your sites use mod-re-write proceed with caution before buying one of their plans.

Think Apthost.com will be good for any web master who needs FFMpeg module as this company has optimized servers for that.
Moreover their reputation is nice on the forums and their provide stable and uninterrupted services.

Regarding the post I made above: They transferred my non-FFMpeg site to an Apache based server so they have a few they are keeping that way.

My initial post regarding my happiness with them is now again in full effect.

I see that this company provides their services on the conditions that will be good for the web masters with different specific needs.

Personally, I have no firsthand experience with this company, but you know it will be useful and more effective to look at more offers of the companies and I can suggest you to look at webhostgiant.com Linux and Windows shared web hosting offers. You will save a great sum of money dealing with them.

In any case you get what you pay for. Cheap can be not reliable at all and vice versa. At least you will grow your personal experience with web hosts.
