cheap web hosting... I mean really cheap

I am a starter. I need to learn by getting my hands dirty. I am planning to start building my website, but I have very shallow pockets. Is there a webhosting service that is like really cheap (= dirt cheap) ?

what do you guys recommend ? and which is the best place to buy a web-domain name ?

Please excuse me if this is a trivial question. But I trust you guys will patiently help me out

Does this mean that one cannot host sites made using ASP or JSP ??

you seem new so,try to go for a company thats experienced and genuine.
and have provided to many customers and users.
hosting companies generally price their shared hosting services at 3-10 Dollars/month(mostly 4-5)
thats pretty cheap when you consider the charges of VPS and dedicated.
try going for a reliable host.

Most likely not, those are typically on Windows based hosting services. You can ask them, they might have some support for it.

Thanks all for your replies. I will check out all these hosting services you guys mentioned. For the time being I have set up a sample wordpress blog here amitdugar.co.cc . I have not started blogging, but I have now learnt how to set up a blog and how to change themes etc...

This is how much it cost me to set-up the blog : $0

I will try to set up shopping carts and other stuff. Then I will write my own pages.
