Make sure you clicked the WebHostingMind link, and not the link crediting the blog authors name.

The customers always know what they are paying for and if you think that web host sucks you always have possibility to chose another one.

The article would have a lot more credibility if the writer hadn't so grossly exaggerated his point on pricing and contract lengths. Prepaying for a longer term offers the incentive of a lower per-month price for the customer to pay up-front rather than paying on a month-to-month basis. It's a fairly routine business practice.

In my case, month-to-month pricing is $10 with the per-month price dropping to $9, $8 and $7 per month for 1, 2, and 3 year prepayment. I haven't seen any indication that there's any hosting company that jacks up their per-month price from $5 to $20 for shorter terms. Perhaps there's one that does but I have my doubts.

Likewise, I seriously doubt that there's a single hosting company out there that would require you to sign up for over 40 years of hosting to get their lowest rate. Two or three years perhaps but I'd be tremendously surprised if any of them had signups for terms longer than four or five years.

Another point on contracts is the provision for getting out of them. My hosting company pays a prorated refund for any unused portion of my contract term should I decide to move my account to another hosting company. While I'd expect that would be common practice, I could be wrong on that point.
